OCD Therapy in San Francisco, California | Grounded Therapy

Online OCD therapy · San Francisco, California

OCD therapy with the treatment that actually works.

Doctoral-level (PhD/PsyD) psychologists treating ocd for people
in San Francisco and across the Bay Area — online, in-network, and usually with no waitlist. Between work downtown and life across the city, you can meet with your therapist from your apartment instead of crossing town for it.

Is this you?

The intrusive thought you'd never act on but can't stop reacting to. The checking, the reassurance-seeking, the mental review that eats hours. OCD is not "being particular" — it's a specific, treatable disorder, and generic talk therapy can make it worse.

OCD therapy, explained.

OCD runs on a loop: an intrusive thought spikes anxiety, a compulsion relieves it for a moment, and the loop gets stronger. The gold-standard treatment is Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — deliberately facing the trigger without the compulsion until the brain learns the alarm is false. For clients who don't tolerate ERP, we also offer Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT). This is specialist work; our OCD clinicians are trained in it, and a typical course runs 12–20 sessions to substantial relief.

For San Francisco

OCD therapy in San Francisco.

San Francisco can be intensely lonely for how dense it is — tech burnout, a transient social scene, and rents that keep people boxed into small apartments.

The city's therapists book out fast and charge Bay-Area rates. Telehealth widens the pool to every California-licensed psychologist, not just whoever has an office off Market Street. Every one of our
psychologists is licensed in California and sees clients across San Francisco — the Mission, SoMa, the Sunset, the Richmond, and the neighborhoods packed between the hills —
by secure video. Where you are in San Francisco decides the view out your window during session, not whether
you can get ocd care.

What ocd therapy here looks like.

  • ERP — the gold-standard, research-backed OCD treatment, delivered by trained specialists
  • Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) as an alternative for those who don't tolerate ERP
  • A clear course of care — most people reach substantial relief in 12–20 sessions

Common questions

Things people ask before booking.

Do you have a therapy office in San Francisco? No — Grounded Therapy is fully online. All of our psychologists are licensed in California and see clients throughout the state by secure video, including everyone in San Francisco and San Francisco. That's the advantage: no commute, no waiting room, and no being limited to whoever happens to have an office near you.
Is online OCD therapy as effective as in person? For the conditions we treat, the research says yes — teletherapy shows outcomes comparable to in-person care, and many clients find it easier to stay consistent when there's no drive involved. The treatment itself is the same evidence-based work; only the room changes.
Do you take my insurance? Many of our providers are in-network with major plans, and we verify your exact benefits and copay for you before your first session, at no cost. See Insurance & Rates for which providers accept which plans.
How soon can I start?Often within a week. Several of our psychologists are actively accepting new San Francisco-area clients — book a free 15-minute consult and we'll match you with someone who fits.
