Working with Sara
I work with adults across California navigating trauma, PTSD, OCD, anxiety disorders, depression, and sleep disturbances — people who want structured, evidence-based treatment that directly targets symptoms. I'm a strong fit if you experience intrusive memories, avoidance, or hypervigilance; struggle with OCD and distressing intrusive thoughts; have trauma-related nightmares; work in high-stress roles like first responders or corrections; or have been impacted by the justice system.
My work is grounded in behavioral science and trauma-informed care. I use exposure-based therapies that help you gradually confront fears in a safe, collaborative way, along with cognitive approaches that address trauma-related beliefs, and targeted treatment for trauma-related nightmares. My experience includes high-acuity and correctional settings, and I welcome clients from diverse spiritual and religious backgrounds.
My style is direct, humorous, and collaborative. We'll start with a thorough assessment, then build a plan grounded in methods like PE, CPT, ERP, or Imagery Rehearsal Therapy for nightmares. Exposure work can feel challenging, but it's one of the most effective approaches for trauma and anxiety — and I'll provide structured support as you reduce avoidance, build tolerance, and regain confidence.
What Sara treats
Care informed by the demands of first-response work — trauma exposure, shift toll, and carrying others' emergencies.
Intrusive thoughts you can't shake, and the checking or rituals you do to feel okay.
Struggling after a really stressful experience — difficult memories, sleep, feeling on edge, and changes in how you see yourself, other people, or the world.
Constant worry or racing thoughts, panic, that "what if" loop you can't switch off.
Care that accounts for your culture, background, and identity — and never asks you to leave any part of yourself at the door.
Low mood, loss of interest, exhaustion, or feeling stuck and disconnected from what used to matter.
Affirming support around gender identity and transition, with collaborative care that centers you.
Affirming support for queer lives and relationships, from someone who won't make you explain the basics.
Specific, intense fears — of places, situations, or things — that quietly shrink what your life can include.
Feeling stretched thin, overwhelmed, or running on empty — a low-pressure place to start when everything feels like too much.
Care that understands the weight of service and frontline work — burnout, trauma, transition, and moral injury.
Sara also brings specific experience with: Identity Exploration, Life Transitions, Meaning Making, Perfectionism, Self-Esteem, Health Conditions, History of Incarceration, Marginalized backgrounds.
