Working with Stacy

I provide warm, evidence-based telehealth in English and Korean to adults across California, with a particular dedication to those in midlife and beyond and the people who care for them. My practice specializes in navigating complex life transitions — such as aging, chronic illness, and identity shift — while providing expert support for anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns.

You may be a great fit for my practice if you are looking for:

  • Compassionate support for life transitions, including a dedicated space to process aging, illness, and the associated grief — including anticipatory grief — without rushing past the difficult feelings.
  • Evidence-based mental and physical health treatment for anxiety, depression, and mood, as well as support for chronic health conditions and new medical diagnoses.
  • Expert cognitive and dementia care that provides the psychoeducation you and your family need to navigate the practical challenges of memory loss and cognitive and functional decline.
  • Dedicated caregiver support that offers a confidential outlet to address the guilt, exhaustion, and complex emotions that often accompany caring for a loved one.
  • Specialized military and service member care featuring trauma-informed readjustment counseling for Veterans, military members, and their families.
  • Culturally responsive care that integrates your unique cultural background and lived experiences into the work — not as an add-on, but as a primary lens through which we understand your life.
  • Collaborative couples and family therapy designed to break negative communication cycles, address intergenerational trauma, and navigate shifting family roles.

Because prioritizing your well-being shouldn’t require using PTO, I offer flexible late-afternoon and early-evening appointments designed to fit your schedule.

What it’s like to work with me

Therapy with me is collaborative, paced, and grounded in the science of how our minds and bodies evolve. I treat the whole person rather than just the symptoms you present with, making space for the parts of your story that often get overlooked — such as the unspoken roles you hold in your family, the cultural nuances of your background, or the diagnosis you are struggling to share with your loved ones.

In our work together, we balance structured support with deep exploration. Some sessions focus on building concrete skills through evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to shift thought patterns or Dialectical Behavior Therapy to build tools for emotional regulation. In other sessions, we slow down to process the relationships, losses, or life transitions weighing on you, using an Emotionally Focused approach to facilitate the meaning-making that helps you find your way forward.

Ultimately, you are the expert on your own life and I am the expert in the science of human behavior. We will bridge these two perspectives to honor your traditions while helping you find a path forward. You do not have to choose between honoring your culture and asking for support, you do not have to apologize for grief that doesn’t fit a clean timeline, and you certainly do not have to wait until things feel “bad enough” to prioritize your well-being.

My therapeutic philosophy

My practice is rooted in the scientist-practitioner model, balancing the rigor of evidence-based care with the fundamental truth that you are the expert on your own life. The therapy room is where these two perspectives meet: your unique wisdom and my clinical expertise. I treat the whole person, integrating your history, environment, and cultural background to move beyond rigid protocols. My goal is to create flexible, tailored interventions that honor the full complexity of who you are while building the resilience needed to thrive.

Whether navigating a military transition or the landscape of dementia and end-of-life care, I have learned that transformative work happens when a therapist refuses to flinch from the hard parts of the human experience. I partner with you to uncover your inherent strengths, providing the clarity needed to navigate these transitions. By focusing on your capacity for growth, we move beyond simple symptom relief toward a sustainable sense of well-being.

I view culturally responsive care as the foundation of our work, especially for those navigating Asian American identity and intergenerational trauma. As a Korean American, third-culture kid, and mother, I understand the nuances of navigating multiple cultural worlds and family narratives firsthand. I bring this lived experience into our work, ensuring our sessions are a dedicated space for healing and empowerment. My goal is to help you reclaim your narrative and move forward with the clarity and confidence to live a life that feels deeply authentic to you.

The emotional side of aging — health changes, memory, purpose, loss, and what comes next.
Couples & relationships
Recurring conflict, feeling disconnected, or growing apart — and rebuilding closeness and trust.
